Alton Brown's oatmeal, sunflower seeds, sliced almonds, and wheat germ in these granola bars will give you a boost of energy in the morning. The recipe calls for a little honey, butter, and brown sugar to hold the ingredients together. Store the bars in an airtight container in the pantry for 2-3 weeks.

Ingredients for the recipe:
- 230 g of oatmeal
- 40 g of sunflower seeds
- 90 g almonds, sliced
- 40 g of wheat germ
- 170 g of honey
- 50 gr. brown sugar
- 25 g butter, plus extra for greasing
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 190 g dried fruit: dried apricots, dried cherries or blueberries

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Grease a 22 x 22 cm glass baking dish and set aside. Preheat oven to 180°C.
- Spread the oats, seeds, almonds, and wheat germ on a rimmed baking sheet. Place in the oven and toast for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, combine the honey, brown sugar, butter, vanilla, and salt over medium heat. Cook until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- When the oat mixture is ready, remove it from the oven and reduce the temperature to 150°C (300°F). Immediately add the oat mixture to the liquid mixture, add the dried fruit, and mix well. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and press down to distribute evenly. Bake for 25 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool completely. Cut the granola into squares and store in an airtight container for up to a week.
