Whole grilled trout is simple yet delicious. All you need is gutted fish, aromatic herbs, and lemon. Bunches of dill, parsley, and tarragon, along with lemon wedges, are tucked inside the fish. Grill the fish on both sides until crisp and golden, and voila! It's the perfect summer dinner, made even more festive by garnishing the mouthwatering trout with grilled lemon halves. To make turning the fish easier, use a grill rack or grill basket.


Ingredients:

  • 4 whole trout (approximately 0.5 kg each), cleaned, washed and dried
  • 8 sprigs of fresh dill
  • 8 sprigs of fresh parsley
  • 8 sprigs of fresh tarragon
  • 2 lemons, 1 sliced ​​and 1 halved
  • Vegetable oil to grease the grill
  • Special equipment: kitchen string and a fish frying basket
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
  • Step 2
  • Season the cavity of each trout with salt and pepper. Add 2 sprigs of dill, parsley, and tarragon, as well as enough lemon slices to fill each cavity. Tie the trout in several places with kitchen string to prevent the herbs and lemon slices from falling out.
  • Step 3
  • Grease the grill grate and fish frying basket with vegetable oil. Place the fish in the basket and fry on one side until golden brown, 7-8 minutes. Flip the basket over and continue frying until the fish is opaque and golden brown on the other side, 6-8 minutes.
  • Step 4
  • Meanwhile, place the lemon halves cut-side down on the grill and grill until charred, about 6 minutes. Carefully remove the fish from the basket. Cut the string, transfer the fish to a serving platter, and serve with the grilled lemon halves.
