This quick, pantry-friendly appetizer is ready in minutes. Blend a couple of cans of baked beans in a food processor, adding garlic chili sauce and a splash of Greek yogurt for a creamy texture, and serve with crackers or chips for dipping. Perfect for house parties or game night.


Ingredients:

  • 2 cans (425g each) black beans, one rinsed
  • 3 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp garlic chili sauce + extra for serving (e.g. sambal oelek)
  • Olive oil to drizzle
  • Nut crackers (such as Blue Diamond Nut Thins), pita chips, or any other dipping snack
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • In a food processor, combine the rinsed beans, beans with the liquid from the can, yogurt, garlic chili sauce, a pinch of salt, and a few grinds of black pepper. Blend until smooth, drizzling with a little olive oil to speed up the process and achieve the desired consistency.
  • Step 2
  • Pour the sauce into a serving bowl and drizzle olive oil and chili sauce over the center. Serve with nut crackers or pita chips.
