Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

How to Make Chicken Stroganoff in a Slow Cooker
Time: 4 hours 15 minutes
Complexity: easily
Servings: 4 - 6

A delicious alternative to traditional beef stroganoff. Instead of beef, we use juicy, skinless chicken thighs. They're perfect for everyday use, and the mushrooms add even more flavor and wonderful aroma. Throw all the sauce ingredients, except the cream cheese, into the slow cooker along with the chicken and mushrooms, and go about your day. A few hours later, the chicken will be tender and the sauce flavorful. All you have to do is stir in the cream cheese and cook some noodles for a side dish.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups lightly salted chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup premium flour
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 package (30 g) of dry onion soup mix
  • 220 g of champignons, cut into 4 pieces
  • 6 boneless, skinless chicken thighs (about 0.8 kg)
  • 340 g egg noodles
  • 4 tablespoons butter, cut into pieces
  • 110 g of cream cheese, room temperature
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for serving
  • Special equipment: 6 liter slow cooker.

We recommend

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • In a medium bowl, combine the broth, flour, tomato paste, onion soup mix, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Pour into a 6-quart slow cooker and top with the mushrooms and chicken. Cover and cook on high for 4 hours.
  • Step 2
  • When ready to serve, bring a large pot of water to a boil; season generously with salt. Add the noodles and cook until al dente according to package directions. Drain and toss the noodles in a large bowl with butter until the butter has melted and the noodles are completely coated.
  • Step 3
  • Transfer the chicken to a small bowl and shred with two forks. Stir the cream cheese into the sauce until completely melted; stir in the chicken and noodles. Sprinkle with parsley and serve.
