Ree Drummond's pulled pork recipe always works. She roasts the meat at a low temperature until it's tender, sweet, and deliciously juicy. Pulled pork in barbecue sauce is perfect for sandwiches or any other main dish with side dishes.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Combine brown sugar, chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl. Rub the mixture all over the pork shoulder. Wrap the pork in plastic wrap and refrigerate for several hours, or preferably overnight.
  • Step 2
  • Preheat oven to 150°C.
  • Step 3
  • Place the pork in a large pot on a layer of onion halves. Roast until tender and falling apart, about 7 hours. Remove the pork from the pot and place it on a cutting board. Chop some onion.
  • Step 4
  • Place the pan on the stove over medium-high heat and add 0.5–1 cup of hot water. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan and cook for 5 minutes, until the liquid has evaporated slightly. Pour in barbecue sauce and, stirring, bring to a boil.
  • Step 5
  • Shred the pork with two forks, add chopped onion, and then drizzle with barbecue sauce of your choice! Serve the pork on buns.
