Thanksgiving Leftover Pies

How to Make Thanksgiving Leftover Pies
Kitchen:American,
Time: 1 hour 10 min.
Complexity: easily
Servings: 12

These savory pies are made with leftovers from the most popular Thanksgiving dishes: roast turkey, mashed sweet potatoes, bread stuffing, and cranberry sauce. They're perfect for the day after the holiday, and they're a great way to offer your family something new, not just reheated leftovers.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 175°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Step 2
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pie dough to a thickness of 0.3 cm. Cut out 11 cm circles from the dough and transfer them to the prepared baking sheet. Gather any scraps if necessary and re-roll; you should have 12 circles in total.
  • Step 3
  • Spread 1 teaspoon of sweet potato mixture evenly over half of each circle, leaving a 0.5 cm border. Top with 2 teaspoons of bread filling, then 2 teaspoons of turkey filling, and finally, 1 teaspoon of cranberry sauce. You can divide some of the filling between the dough circles to ensure they are evenly distributed. Beat the egg and milk in a small bowl until foamy. Brush the edges of each dough circle with the egg.
  • Step 4
  • Fold each circle over to enclose the filling, making 12 semicircle patties. Press the edges with your fingers to seal, then crimp with the tines of a fork.
  • Step 5
  • Brush the top of each pie with the remaining egg wash. Make 3 small slits with a small knife to allow steam to escape. Bake until golden brown, about 30 minutes. Serve warm with the remaining cranberry sauce and gravy for dipping.
