A step-by-step recipe for making unsweetened puff pastry with Palmier cheese.


Ingredients:

  • 6 tablespoons finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 (250g) sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tbsp. water
  • 1/4 cup grated Italian cheese mixture
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Sprinkle a small amount of grated Parmesan cheese on the work surface. Place a sheet of puff pastry on top of the cheese. Brush the pastry with an egg wash made from 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon of water.
  • Step 2
  • Combine 2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese, Italian cheese blend, and 1 teaspoon of paprika. Sprinkle over the surface of the dough and press lightly.
  • Step 3
  • Fold the top and bottom edges of the dough into the center. Fold the dough in half, left to right. Then fold it in half again, top to bottom. Cover and chill for 30 minutes.
  • Step 4
  • Preheat oven to 180°C.
  • Step 5
  • Slice into 0.3 cm thick slices, starting from the short edge. Dip the flat sides of the palms in the remaining Parmesan cheese and place on a baking sheet. Bake the cheese puffs for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
