Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Position a rack in the middle of the oven and preheat the oven to 160°C. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Step 2
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
  • Step 3
  • In a separate large bowl, combine the butter and granulated sugar and beat with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, 3-4 minutes. Stir in 4 teaspoons of water and vanilla. Slowly fold in the flour mixture and finally the pecans.
  • Step 4
  • Scoop a tablespoon of dough, shape each piece into a crescent shape, and distribute evenly on the prepared baking sheets. (You'll have leftover dough for a second batch.)
  • Step 5
  • Bake until golden brown on the bottom and edges, 10-12 minutes. Watch the cookies closely. It's better to underbake than overbake. Cool the cookies on the baking sheets for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely, about 10 minutes. Repeat with the remaining dough.
  • Step 6
  • Place powdered sugar in a shallow dish. Once the cookies have cooled, roll each crescent in powdered sugar.
