The main ingredient in this autumn cocktail is spiced rye whiskey, which you can make at home. Simply pour a bottle of whiskey over orange, cloves, and a cinnamon stick, let it steep for about 24 hours, and it will develop a wonderful citrusy-spicy aroma and flavor. Mix the infused autumn whiskey with sherry, orange liqueur, and nut liqueur, and enjoy!


Ingredients:


Cocktail
  • 45 ml autumn rye whiskey, recipe below
  • 30 ml. dry sherry
  • 7 ml orange liqueur, such as Cointreau
  • Hazelnut liqueur with hazelnuts, to taste
  • Orange zest, for garnish

Autumn Rye Whiskey
  • 1 orange
  • 20 carnations
  • A quarter of a cinnamon stick
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) rye whiskey, such as Bulleit
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Pour autumn rye whiskey, sherry, orange liqueur, and nut liqueur into a glass, add coarse ice, and stir thoroughly. Strain into a glass, garnish with orange zest, and serve.

  • Autumn Rye Whiskey:

    Stab the cloves into the orange. Place the orange, cloves, cinnamon, and whiskey in a deep container, making sure the whiskey completely covers the orange and cinnamon. Let it steep at room temperature, covered, for 24 hours. Strain before using.
