Puff pastry ears with sugar

How to Make Puff Pastry Ear Cookies with Sugar
Time: 30 min.
Quantity: 10 pcs.

Ear cookies are one of the easiest homemade treats, provided you have ready-made puff pastry. You can make it yourself in advance and freeze it, or buy it at the supermarket. Besides the dough, you'll only need sugar and cinnamon for sprinkling. Form the dough as directed, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, and cut it crosswise into hearts (or ears). Not only do these cookies require very little time and effort, but they turn out incredibly delicious, crispy, and aromatic. A perfect treat with tea or coffee.

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 150 g fine sugar
  • 5 g ground cinnamon
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 200°C.
  • Step 2
  • Remove the dough sheet from the packaging.
  • Step 3
  • Mix sugar with cinnamon.
  • Step 4
  • Sprinkle a little of the sugar mixture onto a piece of parchment paper and place a sheet of puff pastry on top. Press the dough with your hands to ensure the sugar adheres.
  • Step 5
  • Fold the two side edges of the dough to the middle and sprinkle with sugar.
  • Step 6
  • Then fold them again in the same way and sprinkle with sugar.
  • Step 7
  • Fold it the last time in exactly the same way and sprinkle with sugar.
  • Step 8
  • Press the dough lightly with a rolling pin or your hands and sprinkle both sides with sugar. The resulting shape should be heart-shaped. Then cut the dough into 2.5 cm (1 inch) slices.
  • Step 9
  • Place the cookies in the preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Rotate the baking sheet halfway through baking.
