Cocktail Sherry Sangari

How to Make a Sherry Sangari Cocktail
Kitchen:American,
Time: 5 min.
Complexity: easily
Servings: 1

The sangaree is one of the oldest American cocktails. Traditionally, it was a harmonious combination of wine, sugar, and nutmeg. This recipe uses honey liqueur instead of sugar, and the nutmeg spice is perfectly complemented by the light citrus note of orange zest.

Ingredients:

  • Ice
  • 60 ml Amontillado sherry
  • 1 tbsp honey liqueur (we recommend: Baerenjaeger)
  • A strip of fresh orange zest
  • Nutmeg husks or ground nutmeg
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

We recommend

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Fill a cocktail shaker or small pitcher with ice. Add sherry and honey liqueur. Cover and shake vigorously until thoroughly chilled, about 30 seconds. The drink is usually ready when the shaker begins to fog up. Strain into a sherry glass. Garnish with orange zest and a pinch of nutmeg. Enjoy!
