Delicate creamed spinach is the perfect side dish for meat or poultry, equally good for holidays and everyday meals. Seasoned with garlic, black pepper, and nutmeg, it's creamy and spicy, incredibly delicious!

Ingredients:

  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 900 g fresh young spinach without stems
  • 0.5 cups heavy cream
  • 0.5 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Heat a large saucepan over medium heat.
  • Step 2
  • Add the olive oil, then add the butter and stir until melted. Sauté the onion and garlic until soft, about 5 minutes. Add the spinach in batches, pressing it down with a wooden spoon to speed up wilting. Continue adding spinach as space appears in the pan.
  • Step 3
  • Sauté the spinach until wilted, then reduce the heat and add the cream and nutmeg. Stir and cook for 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Serve hot.
