Apple fritters

How to Make Apple Fritters
Kitchen:American,
Menu:Breakfast,
Time: 35 min.
Complexity: easily
Quantity: 30 fritters

Apple fritters are fluffy, golden-brown donuts filled with juicy apple chunks and a wonderful cinnamon flavor. Like any donut, they're deep-fried in oil, making them a true treat loved by both kids and adults. Use crisp, sweet-and-tart apples, like Granny Smith, for a more balanced and interesting flavor. Dust the finished fritters immediately with powdered sugar and enjoy for breakfast or dessert. Serve with ice cream or top with donut glaze. Reheat any leftover fritters in the oven the next day—they'll be just as delicious!

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • In a heavy-bottomed saucepan or cauldron, heat a few centimeters of vegetable oil over medium heat until a deep-fry thermometer registers 170°C.
  • Step 2
  • In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with a fork, then add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Gently fold the dry and wet mixtures together, but do not overmix. Stir in enough apples to create a batter with plenty of chunks.
  • Step 3
  • Drop 1 tablespoon of batter into the hot oil and fry 6-8 at a time until golden brown, 4-6 minutes. Transfer the finished fritters to paper towels. Dust generously with powdered sugar and serve warm with sausage and bacon. Delicious!
