  • 1 can (425g) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • Half a medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 2/3 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until tender, about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and chili powder and cook for another 1 minute.
  • Step 2
  • Stir in the beans and chicken broth and cook until the beans begin to soften, about 5 minutes. Smash the beans with the back of a wooden spoon, adding more chicken broth if needed. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with cilantro.
