Ingredients:

  • 250 g dried figs, washed, dried and stems removed
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme
  • Kaymak, blue cheese, sheep's cheese and bread crumb, for serving
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Cut the figs in half, place in a saucepan with red wine and sugar; season with salt.

    Bring to a boil, then reduce and simmer until the wine has reduced by half and the syrup has thickened slightly, about 10 minutes.
  • Step 2
  • Remove from heat and garnish with thyme sprigs. Serve with your favorite cheese spread on bread.
