Tomato sauce for enchiladas

Hot sauce is an essential ingredient in the popular Mexican snack enchilada, which is made with a thin corn tortilla. Enchiladas can be filled with meat, vegetables, or eggs. This recipe will help you create a quick and easy, savory chili sauce for your enchiladas.


Ingredients:

  • 300 g tomato paste
  • 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1/4 cup ground chili pepper
  • 2 tbsp. chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp salt
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Heat vegetable oil in a medium saucepan. Add flour, stirring with a wooden spoon until smooth. Sauté for 1 minute. Add ground chili pepper and sauté for 30 seconds.
  • Step 2
  • Add the broth, tomato paste, oregano, and cumin. Stir until combined. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 15 minutes. The sauce should thicken and become smooth. Adjust seasonings to taste. Serve with your favorite side dish. enchilada.
