Green Goddess Shrimp Dip in a Bread Bowl

How to Make Green Goddess Shrimp Dip in a Bread Bowl
Kitchen:American,
Time: 1 hour.
Complexity: easily
Servings: 6 - 8

Dip in a bread bowl is a fun and original way to serve an appetizer for a gathering of friends. It's best to use a round or oval loaf of sourdough bread. Scoop out the crumb, fill the resulting bowl with the sauce, and then cut the scooped-out crumb into pieces, toast them, and use them for dipping. This recipe uses the popular American Green Goddess sauce for the dip, made from cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise with plenty of fresh herbs. The sauce obviously got its name from its distinctive color and divine flavor, which is even more amazing when paired with finely chopped shrimp.

Ingredients:

  • 450 g of cooked shrimp without tails
  • 220 g of cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh dill + extra for serving
  • 1/4 cup fresh tarragon
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley
  • 3 green onions (white and light green parts only), coarsely chopped
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • Grated zest and juice of 1 lemon

We recommend

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Pulse the shrimp in a food processor until they are finely chopped, not pureed. Transfer to a large bowl. Add the cream cheese, dill, tarragon, parsley, onion, mayonnaise, and sour cream to the food processor and process until smooth.
  • Step 2
  • Add the cream cheese mixture and lemon zest and juice to the shrimp and mix well. Add 0.5 teaspoon of salt, a pinch of black pepper, and hot sauce to taste. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours.
  • Step 3
  • Preheat oven to 200°C.

Using a small serrated knife, cut out the bread crumb, leaving a 1 cm thick shell. Cut the bread crumb into pieces and arrange on a baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil and a few drops of hot sauce. Toast in the oven for 5-8 minutes. Fill the loaf with sauce and sprinkle with dill. Serve with toasted bread, crackers, and/or raw vegetables.
