This sweet version of sausage rolls will appeal to anyone who loves unusual flavor combinations and is perfect for both breakfast and snacking. It's made with ready-made cinnamon roll dough, which comes pre-dusted with cinnamon and icing. Wrap a pork sausage in each roll, leaving the ends exposed, bake, and serve drizzled with icing. Dip in natural maple syrup and enjoy.


Ingredients:

  • 16 uncooked breakfast sausages
  • 2 x 350g tubes chilled cinnamon roll dough with icing
  • Maple syrup, for serving
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 200°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Step 2
  • Place the sausages on the prepared baking sheet and bake, turning once, until cooked through, about 15 minutes; drain on paper towels to remove excess grease. Line the baking sheet with a new sheet of parchment paper. Reduce the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C).
  • Step 3
  • Divide the dough into individual rolls, setting the glaze aside. Using your hands, shape each piece of dough into an oval shape 8-10 cm long, then wrap it around the sausage roll, with the cinnamon and sugar side facing out.
  • Step 4
  • Place the sausages in the dough on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down, at a distance of 1 cm from each other in 2 rows of 8 pieces.
  • Step 5
  • Bake until the buns are golden brown, about 15 minutes. Let cool to room temperature.
  • Step 6
  • Transfer the sausage rolls to a serving platter, drizzle with glaze and serve with maple syrup for dipping.
