Pinot Gris wine

Photo Wine Pinot Gris

This wine has two names, although both are made from the same grapes. The first, Pinot Gris, is French and is used in the Alsace region. The second, Pinot Grigio, is Italian.

Pinot Gris appeared five years ago as an alternative to Chardonnay, and it caused a sensation! It was a hit with white wine lovers everywhere, so it began to be produced in other countries, such as New Zealand, where previously only Sauvignon Blanc was produced, and Canada, where they now produce a rich and elegant wine. However, the Pinot Gris produced in Alsace, France, is still considered the best; it pairs best with spicy dishes.

Main characteristics of wine:

Color: white, varies from pale yellow to pinkish.

Density: average.

Taste: Rich, with notes of pear and melon and a delicate floral aroma.

Other names for wine: Pinot Grigio (Italy), Grauburgunder (Germany).

What do they mix it with? It is usually drunk neat and is rarely mixed.
