Pairing cheese with fruit

Cheese pairs beautifully with fruit; they're simply made for each other. There are many interesting flavor combinations, which you'll learn about in our article.
1. Apples and brie.
This is simply wonderful! Cut an apple into thin slices and place a very thin slice of brie cheese on top of each. The cheese slices should be thin, but not jagged. Try to cut them very carefully. It's best to use sweet and juicy apples, so their juice will better complement the cheesy flavor of the brie.
2. Figs and smoked Gouda cheese.
This is a very unusual, yet delicious combination. The soft, enveloping flavor of figs perfectly complements the smoky aroma of Gouda. If you have the opportunity to buy figs and this cheese, don't miss the opportunity to enjoy them together.
3. Cranberry and mozzarella.
If you buy dried cranberries at the store, they will taste slightly sweeter than fresh. This is understandable; not everyone likes fresh cranberries. Dried cranberries pair well with any soft cheese, but mozzarella is the best. You can also try cranberries with Gorgonzola or Wensleydale.
4. Camembert with almonds, apples and pears.
This cheese has a rich, creamy cow's milk flavor. It should be served at room temperature. It pairs perfectly with the fruits mentioned above.
5. Cotija cheese with berries, bananas and mango.
Mexican cotija cheese is hard. It has a somewhat grainy texture and a rather salty flavor. Place it on fruit pieces and enjoy!
6. Gouda in a red casing and apples, grapes, olives or pears.
Creamy, hard and fairly fatty Gouda cheese harmonizes perfectly with the soft taste of fruits.
7. Parmesan and pineapple.
Parmesan cheese has a rough texture with a strong, spicy flavor and a tangy, fruity, nutty aroma. Cut the pineapple into slices and sprinkle them with grated Parmesan cheese.
8. Manchego with apples, almonds or pears.
Manchego cheese Made from the milk of Manchego sheep, bred in Spain, the cheese is aged for 60 days to 2 years. Depending on the aging period, the flavor can vary. For example, a two-week-old Manchego has a rich yet mild flavor, while cheese aged 3-6 months has a slightly sweet, nutty flavor.
9. Pecorino Romano with pears and walnuts.
There are several varieties of this cheese: Italian is made from sheep's milk, while American is made from cow's milk. The cheese is aged for eight months to a year and has a sweet taste and aroma when young, and a sharper, smokier flavor when aged for more than eight months.
Prepare a very tasty snack.
Cut 225g of spicy, room-temperature Pecorino Romano cheese into 8 thin rectangular slices. Slice a very ripe pear and arrange them on top of the cheese slices. Warm 4 tablespoons of honey and drizzle it over the pears. Top with freshly ground black pepper and walnuts.
10. Blue cheese with pears.
This sharp and salty blue cheese is made from raw cow's milk and aged for 60-90 days in temperature-controlled tanks.
And now – a mind-blowing recipe!
Baked pears with blue cheese

You will need:
– 3 Anjou pears (ripe but quite firm, they need to be peeled and cut in half, removing the core with seeds);
– juice of 3 lemons (freshly squeezed);
– young arugula sprouts, 170 g;
– sharp blue cheese, 85 g (lightly crumbled);
– apple cider, 1/2 cup;
– brown sugar, 1/3 cup;
– dried cranberries, 1/4 cup;
– walnuts, 1/4 cup (halved, toasted and chopped);
– olive oil, 1/4 cup;
– port wine, 3 tablespoons;
- coarse salt.
Preparation:
1. Preheat oven to 190°C.
2. Place the pears in lemon juice to prevent them from browning.
3. Place the pears in a baking dish, flesh side up.
4. Place the blue cheese, cranberries, and walnuts in a small bowl, toss to combine, and then spoon the mixture evenly over the pear pieces, making sure to nestle into the hollows left by removing the seeds.
5. Mix apple cider and port. Add sugar and dissolve completely.
6. Pour the resulting liquid mixture over the pears to cover them completely.
7. Place the pan in the oven and bake for half an hour. Every 10 minutes, baste the fruit with the liquid that has accumulated in the pan.
8. When the dish is ready, remove it from the oven and cool.
9. Mix olive oil with half a glass of lemon juice and pour the mixture over each pear.
10. Place each pear on a separate plate and garnish each with a sprig of young arugula.
11. Drizzle the pears with a mixture of olive oil and lemon juice so that everything looks beautiful on the plate.
12. Sprinkle with salt. Serve the pears warm.
Eating cheese with fruit is not only delicious but also healthy. Fruit is known to contain many vitamins, fiber, and minerals. It's best to eat fatty cheeses no more than once a week, especially if you're overweight. If you're craving a snack, don't reach for the chips. Instead, make yourself a cheese and fruit snack.
