Time: 20 min.
Complexity: easily

A great idea for a craft class with kids, this vibrant holiday popcorn dessert requires no stovetop or oven preparation. Be sure to let the marshmallow-popcorn mixture cool before adding the M&Ms to ensure the candies retain their shape and don't melt.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the popcorn in a bowl large enough to mix with the melted marshmallows.
  • Step 2
  • Combine the marshmallows and butter in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second intervals at 50% power until the marshmallows are puffed and melted inside, about 1 minute. Add the vanilla and food coloring and stir until the mixture is bright green.
  • Step 3
  • Pour the marshmallow mixture over the popcorn and stir with a spatula. Spray your hands well with cooking spray. Mix with your hands. Let the mixture cool for a few minutes, then sprinkle with half of the red candies and stir. Add the remaining candies and stir.
  • Step 4
  • Divide the mixture into 12 portions (about 1 cup each). Roll into balls, then flatten slightly and make an indentation in the center with your thumb to resemble a wreath. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Step 5
  • To make the bows, cut 12 thin strips (about 0.3 cm thick) of red pastille and twist them into bows. Attach one to the bottom of each wreath.
