Mexican Chicken Chili for Sports Fans - A Step-by-Step Recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 500 g of minced chicken
  • 2 cans of chopped tomatoes in their own juice
  • 1 can of canned red beans
  • 1 can of canned white beans
  • 1 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 2 stalks of celery
  • 1 - 2 bell peppers
  • 1 jalapeño pepper
  • 1 medium-sized onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tbsp chili powder (see chili pepper seasoning)
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

    Step 1
  • First, wash and prepare the fresh vegetables: dice the celery, onion, seeded jalapeño, and bell pepper, and mince the garlic with a sharp knife. Pour olive oil into a nonstick saucepan and heat over medium heat. Add the garlic, celery, bell pepper, jalapeño, and onion and season with salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 8 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

    Add the ground chicken, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, and cook until darkened. Add the chili powder and cumin and cook until the ground chicken is fully cooked, about 6 minutes. Add the tomatoes and beans and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for at least an hour, stirring occasionally, until the Mexican chili reaches a smooth, thick consistency.
    Exit: 1 and 1/4 tbsp.
