Enjoy all the nutrition, flavor, and smooth texture of ripe avocado in this traditional Mexican appetizer, guacamole. Simply mash the avocado with a fork and mix with fresh cilantro, a hot serrano chili, lime juice, and onion. Be sure to remove all the seeds before adding the chili to avoid overly spicy guacamole. All the ingredients blend perfectly, creating a balanced flavor and a healthy appetizer. Serve with fresh vegetables or tortilla chips for dipping. You can also spread the guacamole on bread or use it in burritos.


Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe avocados, pitted, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves
  • 1 serrano pepper, seeded and stemmed, finely chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Half a white onion, chopped
  • Tortilla chips or fresh vegetables, for serving
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

    Step 1
  • In a medium bowl, combine diced avocado and mash with a fork until smooth.
  • Step 2
  • Add cilantro, chili, lime juice, and onion and toss to distribute evenly. Season with salt to taste. Serve with tortilla chips or fresh vegetables.
