  • 6 beef hot dog sausages
  • 2 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • 8 crimini mushrooms, sliced ​​into 0.5cm pieces.
  • 1 onion, halved and chopped
  • 1 thinly sliced ​​red pepper
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp dried oregano
  • 0.66 cups halved yellow cherry tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp. grated mozzarella
  • 2 tbsp (30 g) butter at room temperature
  • 6 potato buns for hot dogs

    Step 1
  • Heat a 25cm (10-inch) saute pan over medium heat. Sear the hot dogs on all sides until heated through, about 5 minutes. Transfer to a plate and keep warm while you prepare the filling.

    In the same skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the mushrooms to the hot skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until they begin to brown, about 5 minutes. Add the onion and red pepper, oregano, and half the salt. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until the onion and pepper are softened and beginning to brown, about 8 minutes. Turn off the heat and add the tomatoes with the remaining salt. Stir with a rubber spatula just to combine, and sprinkle the mozzarella on top to melt.

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spread butter on each bun and grill until golden brown, about 1 minute. Place each hot dog in a toasted bun. Spread the pepperoni and cheese mixture evenly among the hot dogs and serve.
