Bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes are the main ingredients of the popular American BLT sandwich. As you might guess, the first letters of the main ingredients are included in the name of the dish. The BLT salad combines all the essential ingredients of the legendary sandwich, minus the bread. It's the perfect combination for a light summer snack, and small portions are incredibly convenient.


Ingredients:


BLT Salad Portion
  • 85 g pancetta, cut into small cubes
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 2 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • 1 tbsp freshly chopped chives
  • 1 teaspoon red wine vinegar
  • 2-3 heads of Little Pearl lettuce (about 16 leaves)
  • 1/4 tbsp. grated parmesan

Mayonnaise with chives
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons unflavored yogurt
  • 1 tsp freshly chopped chives
  • 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Mayonnaise with chivesIn a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise with the yogurt, chives, lemon juice, mustard, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Set aside. Mayonnaise can be prepared a day ahead of serving and stored in the refrigerator..

  • Portioned salad "B-L-T"Sauté the pancetta in a skillet over medium-high heat until crisp, 5-7 minutes. Transfer to a plate.

    In a medium bowl, combine tomatoes, olive oil, chives, vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Let sit for 5 minutes.

  • Arrange large lettuce leaves on a serving platter. Place 1.5 teaspoons of chive mayonnaise in the center of each leaf. Top with about 1 tablespoon of tomato mixture and some crispy pancetta. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
