Juicy, refreshing, and easy to prepare, this bacon-bourbon coleslaw is packed with rich flavor and makes a great side dish for any meal, meat, or sandwich. Once you try it, you'll make it again and again. Even those who aren't big on vegetables will love this salad, as the crispy pieces of fried pork belly do their job, instantly enhancing its flavor and making it even more appealing to picky eaters. In addition to crumbled bacon, the thinly shredded cabbage is dressed with a mixture of mayonnaise, lime juice, bourbon, Dijon mustard, and chili powder. The finished salad can be served immediately, but it will be even more delicious after a short rest.


Ingredients:

  • 1 medium head red cabbage, cored and finely shredded
  • 8 slices bacon, finely chopped (fry and drain on paper towels)
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 - 2 tbsp. l. bourbon
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 2 tsp chili-brown sugar pez mixture
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, bourbon, lime juice, mustard, chili spice mix, garlic powder, 0.5 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Pour the dressing over the cabbage in a large bowl and toss to coat completely.

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours and up to 6 hours.

  • Stir crispy bacon into the salad before serving.
