Baked beans

How to Make Baked Beans
Time: 1 hour 20 min.
Complexity: easily
Servings: 10

This casserole is incredibly easy to make, and despite being made with canned beans, it tastes incredibly home-cooked. The canned beans are simply mixed with fried bacon and other ingredients, including molasses for a richer flavor with a pleasant sweetness that complements the smoky aroma of the bacon. The whole thing is baked in the oven and can be served as a side dish. Baked beans are perfect for large gatherings, especially at picnics.

  • 450 g of bacon
  • 1 large sweet onion, such as Vidalia, finely chopped
  • 4 cans of 400g canned beans with pork
  • 0.5 cups dark molasses
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
