Baked Turkey on a Beer Can - A Detailed Recipe.


Ingredients:

  • 1 (500-700 gr.) can of beer
  • 1 (4-5 kg) defrosted turkey
  • 2 tsp mustard powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried onion
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground smoked cumin
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 180 C. Prepare a beer can: pour out half of the beer and use a can opener to cut off the top of the can.
  • Step 2
  • In a bowl, combine mustard powder, garlic powder, dried onion, paprika, garlic salt, cumin, salt and pepper.
  • Step 3
  • Gut the turkey, remove the neck, and trim off any excess fat. Rinse under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Rub the cavity with 2-3 teaspoons of the spice mixture. Rub the outside with canola oil and the remaining spice mixture, place the turkey on a beer can, and cover with foil.

  • Place the turkey in the very bottom of the oven and roast for 2-3 hours, until a thermometer inserted into the thigh reads 160-175°F (70-75°C).
