Guy Fieri's chicken recipe is baked in the oven, larded with garlic, and wrapped in bacon slices. This dish is a must-try, especially if you don't have a grill.


Ingredients:

  • 1 whole chicken (0.9-1.3 kg)
  • 1 can (340 g) beer
  • 230 g of bacon
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tbsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 crushed cloves of garlic
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 230°C. Rinse the chicken with cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

    In a small bowl, combine the dry ingredients. Rub half of the mixture into the inside of the chicken. Carefully remove the skin from the chicken and rub the mixture into the meat.

    Open a can of beer and pour out about 1/2 cup. Add the garlic cloves. Place the carcass on top of the beer can, ensuring the can is inside.

    Place the chicken upright in a large pot. Place 1/3 of the bacon into the top opening, then cover the chicken with the remaining 2/3 of the bacon. Secure the bacon to the chicken with toothpicks.

    Place the chicken in the oven for 10 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 160°C and bake for another 1 hour, or until the internal temperature of the thickest part of the drumstick reaches 75°C on a candy thermometer.
