Fried steak with cumin and cucumber salad

- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tsp hot Hungarian paprika
- 2 tsp granulated garlic
- 2 teaspoons coarse salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 2 T-bone steaks, 2.5 cm thick.
- Olive oil to drizzle
Cucumber salad
- 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 0.5 tsp sugar
- Half an English cucumber, thinly sliced (about 1 cup)
- 2 radishes, thinly sliced
- 2-3 very thin slices of red onion
- Half a small jalapeño, thinly sliced

- Steaks:
In a small bowl, combine cumin, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Sprinkle each steak with the spice mixture on both sides and massage into the meat. Let sit at room temperature for 2 hours.
Step 2 - Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Drizzle the steaks with olive oil on both sides, then place them in the hot skillet. Step 3
- Cook for 3-4 minutes, then flip and cook on the other side for another 2 minutes, or until desired doneness. Transfer the steaks to a plate, cover with foil, and let rest for 10 minutes. Step 4
- Cucumber salad:
In a medium bowl, combine the lime juice, vinegar, sugar, a pinch of salt, and a few grinds of black pepper. Stir until the sugar and salt dissolve. Add the cucumber, radish, red onion, and jalapeño, if using. Stir and let sit at room temperature while the steaks rest. Serve the steaks with a cucumber salad.
