Ingredients:

  • 8 large eggs
  • 8 slices of bacon
  • 3 tbsp. instant coffee
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • Freshly ground pepper
  • 4 tsp butter
  • Salt
  • Buttered toast, for serving
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Place a rack on a baking sheet. Combine maple syrup, instant coffee, and pepper to taste in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the coffee dissolves.

    Remove the pan from the heat, add the bacon and stir.
  • Step 2
  • Place the bacon on the grill and baste with the remaining syrup. Bake for 20 minutes, then flip and baste with more syrup. Continue baking until dark brown, about 15 more minutes.
  • Step 3
  • Meanwhile, heat 2 teaspoons of butter in a frying pan. Crack 4 eggs into the pan, season with salt and pepper, and cook until the whites are set but the yolks are still runny, about 4-6 minutes. Repeat with the remaining eggs. Serve the fried eggs with bacon and toast.
