Shrimp in curry sauce

Shrimp in curry sauce - a detailed recipe.


Ingredients:

  • 700 g peeled raw shrimp
  • 2 tbsp (30 g) butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp. curry powder
  • 1 can (400 ml) coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp. honey, more to taste
  • 1/4 tsp salt or to taste
  • Juice of 1 lime or more to taste
  • 12 fresh basil leaves, chopped, plus more for garnish
  • Cooked basmati rice as a side dish
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook, turning, until cooked through (2 to 3 minutes). Remove to a plate.

    Add garlic and onion to the pan and stir, cook for 2 minutes. curry seasoning Add the onion and continue cooking, stirring, for a few more minutes. Reduce the heat and pour in the coconut milk, stirring. Add the honey, salt, and lime, and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

    Add the cooked shrimp to the sauce and simmer gently until the sauce thickens, 2 to 3 minutes. Taste the sauce and add more salt, lime juice, or honey to taste. Add basil.

  • Serve the curried shrimp on a bed of basmati rice and garnish with plenty of basil leaves.
