Preparation:

    Step 1
  • In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese, sour cream, milk, and powdered sugar until smooth; set aside.
  • Step 2
  • In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until pale yellow. Stir in the buttermilk, melted butter, food coloring, vanilla, and apple cider vinegar.

Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and mix well. Place some of the dough in a sauce bottle with a 0.6 cm (1/4 in) hole.
  • Step 3
  • Heat a flat grill pan or large nonstick skillet over medium heat.

Lightly grease a hot skillet with melted butter and pipe a small amount of batter onto the top, creating the outline of a heart or several hearts of the desired size. Fill each outline with batter and smooth it out to the edges with a spatula.
  • Step 4
  • Cook each pancake for about 3 minutes, until bubbles appear on the surface. Carefully flip and continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes, until the bottom is set and the pancake is cooked through. Repeat with the remaining batter.
  • Step 5
  • Top each pancake with cream cheese mixture and maple syrup, and sprinkle with pecans.
