Watermelon Martini


How to Make Watermelon Martini

Martini's name now refers not only to the famous drink but also to cocktails served in a special martini glass. They always look elegant and festive, and are perfect for parties. Incredibly summery and refreshing, watermelon gives the drink an inviting pink hue. You can also garnish the rim of the glass with sugar crystals or salt and a twist of lemon zest. And although the cocktail is seasonal, you can freeze some watermelon puree and surprise your guests with this wonderful drink any time of year.


Ingredients:

  • 0.5 cups of sugar
  • 0.5 cups of water
  • 5 cups watermelon, seeds removed
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 and 1/4 cups of vodka
  • 60 ml melon liqueur, optional
  • 8 lemon zest spirals, for garnish
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • In a small saucepan, bring the sugar and water mixture to a boil and cook until the sugar is completely dissolved. Let cool.
  • Step 2
  • Puree the watermelon in a food processor. Add a little sugar syrup for sweetness, to taste. Pour the watermelon puree into 2 ice cube trays and freeze for at least 4 hours.
  • Step 3
  • Mix in a blender watermelon sorbet, lemon juice, vodka, add melon liqueur and simple syrup (optional), and blend until smooth. Pour into 8 chilled martini glasses and garnish with lemon swirls.
