Smoked Negroni

How to Make a Smoked Negroni
Time: 20 min.
Complexity: easily
Servings: 4

The main ingredients of this Italian cocktail are Campari bitters, gin, and sweet vermouth, mixed in equal parts. However, the sweet and spicy aroma of this classic drink takes on a new dimension when enhanced with smoky notes. Smoked salt works perfectly here. Garnish the rim of each glass with it and add a pinch inside. For an extra smoky flavor, add a wide strip of orange peel, grilled over an open flame. It also serves as a garnish. A fun option for a barbecue party.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp chipotle sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • A slice of orange
  • 0.5 cups Campari
  • 0.5 cups of gin
  • 0.5 cup sweet vermouth
  • Orange zest, for serving
  • Ice

  • Step 2
  • Combine 1/2 cup each of Campari, gin, and sweet vermouth in a measuring cup; pour into glasses. To serve, toast 4 wide strips of orange zest, one at a time, over a gas burner flame, holding the zest with tongs; place 1 strip in each glass.
