Negroni with Burnt Orange

How to Make a Burnt Orange Negroni
Kitchen:Italian,
Time: 20 min.
Complexity: easily
Quantity: 1 cocktail

The Negroni cocktail is named after the Italian Count Camillo Negroni, who invented it. Traditionally, the drink consists of gin, sweet vermouth, and orange bitters, garnished with an orange slice. It's typically enjoyed as an aperitif. At a barbecue party, you can make a slightly more exotic version of the cocktail. Try chef Mark Murphy's recipe for a thoroughly grilled whole orange, slice it, and garnish the Negroni. This will give this drink, a favorite primarily of the stronger sex, an even more masculine twist.

You can grill an orange ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for a few days..
  • Step 2
  • Combine gin, vermouth, liqueur, maple syrup, lemon juice, and bitters in a glass filled with ice. Add a slice of burnt orange and shake well. Strain into a wide, short glass and drink down!
