Instead of traditional gin, add bourbon infused with fig, pear, and natural vanilla to your Negroni. A whole bouquet of flavors and aromas awaits. The cocktail is strong, with a distinctive bitterness and an incredible finish. The bourbon is aged for at least two weeks, so plan ahead.

Ingredients:

  • 4 and 1/4 cups bourbon
  • 2 figs, thinly sliced
  • 2 pears, thinly sliced
  • 1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise and seeds scraped out
  • 30 ml orange liqueur, such as Campari
  • 30 ml sweet vermouth
  • Orange slice, for garnish
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Make a bourbon tincture:

    Combine bourbon, figs, pears, seeds, and vanilla bean in an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 2 weeks, but no more than 3 weeks. Strain through a sieve.
  • Step 2
  • For each drink, combine 60 ml of bourbon bitters, orange liqueur, and vermouth in a glass with ice. Stir for 90 seconds, then strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with an orange slice.
