The lemon aroma and its tart flavor unexpectedly burst with freshness, reminiscent of sparklers. This cocktail will sparkle at a barbecue party. The mere sight of this sparkling drink lifts the spirits. Fruit juices can be paired with sparkling wines or ciders, soda water, and syrups, while American whiskey from Kentucky will add a kick to get the party started.


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (from about 4 large lemons)
  • 0.5 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (from 1 large orange)
  • 4 cups soda, chilled
  • Lemon slices (about 4 large lemons)
  • Orange slices (1 large orange)
  • 1 bunch fresh mint, plus extra for garnish
  • Crushed ice
  • 6 shots of Bourbon
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Simple syrupIn a small saucepan, combine 1.5 cups water and sugar over high heat. Cook until the sugar dissolves, about 2 minutes. Cool, and the simple syrup is ready. It can be made ahead of time and refrigerated for up to 1 week in a tightly sealed container.
  • Step 2
  • In a pitcher, combine sugar syrup with lemon and orange juice. Stir in club soda. Add lemon slices, orange, and mint.
  • Step 3
  • Fill glasses with crushed ice. Add a shot of bourbon to each and fill the rest of the glasses with sparkling lemonade. Garnish each drink with mint.
