Waldorf Salad with Bacon - detailed recipe.


Ingredients:

  • 2 grated carrots
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup yellow raisins
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon celery seeds
  • Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 2 red apples (Fuji varieties or gala)
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley
  • 2 stalks celery, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices bacon, cut into 1.25cm strips.
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • In a medium skillet over medium heat, fry the bacon for 8 minutes until crisp. Pat dry with paper towels.
  • Step 2
  • In a large bowl, combine mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, sugar, and celery seed.

    Finely chop the apples and add them to the dressing along with the celery, carrots, walnuts, light raisins, parsley, and bacon. Season with salt and pepper and toss the salad.
