Back then, people made kvass from baked bread, adding a little grass and tree bark. The word "kvass" itself comes from the Old Russian language. It was used to describe almost all drinks with a sour taste.

Bread kvass is currently popular. In hot weather, it's sold on the streets in yellow barrels. This drink is made from rye flour, water, malt, yeast, and sugar. Rye kvass has many beneficial properties. It's refreshing and invigorating. Its high vitamin content strengthens the body.

Doctors claim this drink has a beneficial effect on the gastrointestinal tract, cardiovascular system, and heart. It strengthens tooth enamel and the immune system, and even enhances potency. Due to its high yeast content, it reduces certain purulent diseases.

Bread kvass also has some contraindications. It is not recommended for people with liver disease, hypertension, or gastritis. The drink contains a small amount of ethyl alcohol, so it is best for pregnant women and children to avoid excessive consumption.
