Prepare steakhouse-style shrimp at home and serve them well-chilled on a bed of crushed ice with two sauces: spicy and refreshing with basil and lemon. A perfect appetizer with alcoholic drinks!

Ingredients:
Shrimp cocktail
- 1 lemon, cut in half
- 450 g large shrimp (10/15 pcs.), peeled and deveined
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley sprigs
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 10 black peppercorns
- Crushed ice
Hot cocktail sauce
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon chipotle in adobo sauce
- 1 teaspoon of prepared horseradish
- 1 tbsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice
Lemon and Basil Cocktail Sauce
- 0.5 cup sour cream
- 0.5 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh basil
- 2 tablespoons lemon zest

3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.

1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.

Preparation:
- Step 1
- Pour 6 cups of water into a medium saucepan. Squeeze the lemon juice into the pan and add the lemon halves. Add the parsley sprigs, garlic, salt, and peppercorns and bring to a boil. Once the water boils, add the shrimp and cook until they turn white and pink, 3-4 minutes. Remove the shrimp from the liquid and cool completely. Step 2
- Before servingPlace crushed ice on a serving platter and top with shrimp. Serve with cocktail sauces. Step 3
- Hot cocktail sauce:
Yield: about 1 cup
Place ketchup, chipotle, horseradish and lemon juice in a small bowl and stir to combine.
Lemon and Basil Cocktail Sauce:
Yield: about 1 cup
Place sour cream, mayonnaise, basil, lemon zest, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper in a small bowl and stir to combine.
