Ina Garten's endlessly delicious and simple shrimp are best served with her spicy homemade sauce, made with chili, ketchup, horseradish, and lemon juice.

Ingredients:


For shrimp:
  • 900 gr. (from 12 to 15 pcs.) shrimp
  • 1 tbsp good olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon table salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper

For the sauce:
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce (Heinz recommended)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons of horseradish
  • 2 tsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp hot sauce (recommended) Tabasco)
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit). Peel the shrimp, leaving the tails on. Place them in a single layer on a baking sheet and toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Roast the shrimp for 8-10 minutes until they change color. Let them cool.
  • Step 2
  • For the sauce, combine chili sauce, ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Serve the sauce for dipping the shrimp.
