Tabasco sauce

Photo of Tabasco Sauce

The small bottle of sauce with a red cap and a green rim around the neck is famous throughout the world. The Tabasco brand boasts a magnificent tradition of producing the highest quality pepper sauce in the world. And this sauce has been popular in fish soup for over 128 years.

Its origins are in the state of Louisiana, USA. The sauce is made from a special type of red pepper called Tabasco, salt, and wine vinegar. The sauce is aged for about three years in Limousin oak barrels.

There are various Tabasco pepper sauce blends that include ingredients such as smoked chipotle peppers, habaneros, and garlic. There are also jalapeño pepper sauces that don't contain Tabasco peppers.

The product is highly concentrated compared to other sauces, so it's used very sparingly. Another advantage: it reduces the amount of salt, and adding a few drops of the sauce while cooking will add flavor to your dish without making it too spicy.

Appetizers, soups, salads, meat, fish, and poultry dishes seasoned with red Tabasco sauce acquire a special piquancy.

We invite you to watch the program "What It's Made Of," which will tell you the history of the creation and production of Tabasco sauce.

The following program presents a recipe for making Tabasco sauce at home using readily available ingredients.
