How to buy tomatoes

Tomatoes – the vegetables are very juicy and tasty. When they ripen, lovers prefer to buy them from private sellers, because that's where they get the real deal. Only in the supermarket are tomatoes just red. From private sellers, they can be not only red, but also yellow, burgundy, and purpleMoreover, they can be of different shapes and sizes.
How to choose large tomatoes
If you're looking for large tomatoes, look for ones with a deep, uniform color. Yellow or green spots on red tomatoes indicate they're not yet ripe. There's a common practice of picking unripe tomatoes so they can ripen later. There's nothing wrong with this. The only problem is that these tomatoes will have much less flavor than those ripened on the vine.
Now take a tomato, place it in your palm, and check its weight. The fruit should be heavy enough to match its size.
Now smell the tomato. A ripe fruit has a sweet, earthy aroma. The stronger the smell, the tastier the tomato. Tomatoes sold in supermarkets often have no smell at all. They don't taste like anything either.
How to choose small tomatoes
Small cherry tomatoes are typically sold in supermarkets and often come in plastic packaging.
When choosing a package, make sure that the tomatoes in it are also a uniform red color, smooth, round, and without spots.
In this case, unfortunately, you won't be able to smell the product because the tomato packaging is often tightly sealed. If the cherry tomatoes are starting to spoil, it won't be possible to detect it by smell.
Harvest site
The place where the tomatoes delivered to the shelves are harvested plays an important role.
Fruits brought from abroad or remote areas are picked while still green and ripen en route. They are usually cheaper.
Those sold by private sellers ripen directly on the vine, making them the ripest, tastiest, and most flavorful. These tomatoes are more expensive, but they're worth it!
