Instead of traditional breadcrumbs, these fish fingers are coated in a mixture of crushed almonds, bran flakes, and wheat germ, making them not only healthier but also delicious, perfect for a party or a romantic dinner. Cayenne pepper, oregano, and garlic powder added to the coating imbue the appetizer with a bouquet of spicy flavors that complement the almonds perfectly. Bake almond-crusted cod pieces in the oven and enjoy dipping them in your favorite sauce or, for example, Italian marinara.

Ingredients:

  • 450 g cod, washed and cut into sticks measuring 2.5 x 12.5 cm.
  • 1 cup chopped almonds
  • 0.5 cup crushed bran flakes
  • 1 tbsp. l. wheat germ
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 0.5 tsp oregano
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • Marinara sauce, for filing
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 220°C.
  • Step 2
  • In a medium bowl, combine the almonds, bran flakes, wheat germ, sea salt, garlic powder, and oregano. Crack the eggs into a separate small bowl and whisk until foamy.
  • Step 3
  • Grease a baking dish with olive oil. First, dip the fish fingers in the egg mixture, then roll them in the almond mixture. Place them in the prepared dish.

  • Bake until golden brown, 10-15 minutes. Serve with your favorite marinara sauce for dipping.
