"Instead of drinking regular soda, I keep this refreshing spritzer with real fruit juice in the fridge," says Giada De Laurentiis. "It's a drink made with sugar-free pomegranate and cranberry juices, a little simple syrup, and club soda for bubbly flavor."

Ingredients:


Drink
  • 1 cup of ice
  • 1.5 cups simple sugar syrup, see recipe below
  • 1 and 1/4 cups chilled unsweetened pomegranate juice
  • 1 cup of chilled unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 1 bottle chilled sparkling water (750 ml)
  • 2 limes, thinly sliced
  • 1 bunch of fresh mint for garnish
  • 0.5 tbsp. (60 g.) pomegranate seeds
  • Special equipment: punch bowl, capacity 6-8 tbsp.

Simple syrup
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of sugar
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Place 1 cup of ice in a punch bowl or 6-8 cup pitcher. Add 1.5 cups of syrup (see below), pomegranate juice, and cranberry juice. Stir well. Slowly pour in chilled sparkling water.
  • Step 2
  • Serving in glasses:

    Place the pomegranate seeds in 12 champagne flutes. Add 1 lime wedge and 1 mint sprig to each glass. Pour the cocktail into the prepared glasses and serve.
  • Step 3
  • Simple syrup:
    Yield: 1.5 cups

    Combine water and sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, reduce heat, and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool.
