Kir Royale Cranberry Cocktail

How to Make a Kir Royale Cranberry Cocktail
Time: 50 min.
Complexity: easily
Servings: 4

The Kir Royale cocktail is a more luxurious version of the famous French Kir, but instead of white wine, it's made with high-quality champagne and cranberry syrup. Make a simple syrup from cranberries and oranges, pour it into glasses, and top with chilled champagne. The cocktail takes on a pleasant red hue and a captivating sweet-tart flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups frozen cranberries + 0.5 cup for serving
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 bottle of champagne
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

We recommend

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Place the cranberries, orange juice, zest, and sugar in a large saucepan over medium heat and simmer until the berries burst slightly and the liquid becomes syrupy, 12-15 minutes. * Transfer to a blender and puree. Be careful when working with hot liquid in the blender; leave the lid slightly open and cover with a towel.
  • Step 2
  • Strain and discard the remaining berries and leave the syrup to cool.
  • Step 3
  • Pour 2 tablespoons of cranberry-orange syrup into the bottom of 4 champagne flutes. Add a few cranberries and carefully top each glass with champagne.
