Carrot sticks with dip

How to Make Carrot Sticks with Dip
Time: 30 min.
Complexity: easily
Servings: 2

This appetizer is very similar to French fries—just as crispy and delicious, but much healthier. That's because carrots are used instead of potatoes, and instead of a deep fryer, you'll need an oven. The carrots are cut into sticks like French fries, tossed with a little olive oil and spices, and baked until crispy. Serve with ranch dressing and ketchup. A great appetizer for house parties and children's parties.

Ingredients:

  • 4 carrots
  • 2 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • 2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 0.5 cups ketchup
  • 0.5 cups store-bought ranch dressing
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 220°C.
  • Step 2
  • Trim the ends of the carrots and cut them in half crosswise. Then cut them in half lengthwise, then in half again lengthwise, or cut them into thirds, depending on the size of the pieces, to create equal-sized sticks.
  • Step 3
  • In a bowl, combine carrots, olive oil, black pepper, garlic powder, salt, and thyme. Transfer to a baking sheet and spread in a single layer. Bake, stirring halfway through, until the carrots are cooked through and the edges are starting to brown, 18 to 20 minutes.
  • Step 4
  • Meanwhile, combine the ketchup and ranch dressing in a small bowl. Serve the baked carrots with the dressing.
