Ingredients:

  • 4 carrots, grated
  • 1 clove of garlic, chopped
  • 1 head of white onion, diced
  • 1/4 cup cilantro leaves
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground pepper
  • 1 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 2 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 24 pita chips and Greek yogurt for serving
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Heat vegetable oil in a saucepan and add white onion. Cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
  • Step 2
  • Mix the carrots with white wine vinegar, garlic, coriander, paprika, and pepper. Stir in the fried onions. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or more. Afterward, add the cilantro.

    Place the carrot salad in a bowl and place it on a serving board next to the yogurt-smeared pita chips.

    Serve with Cabernet wines as an appetizer.
