A step-by-step recipe for a romantic evening on Valentine's Day.

Have you ever mentioned the phrase "Be a man" to your lover? Perhaps this call to action will inspire decisiveness, or perhaps your culinary skills will do the trick. Whatever the case, don't let circumstances ruin your evening plans.


Ingredients:

  • 6 skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp. chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup white wine
  • 400 g tomato sauce from pureed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 tbsp dried rosemary
  • 1 tbsp. lemon pepper
  • Boiled rice for serving
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Heat oil in a 30cm frying pan over medium heat.

    Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper. Lightly brown the chicken on each side for about 4 minutes. Transfer to a platter.
  • Step 2
  • Drain the fat from the pan, reserving about 1 tablespoon. Fry the onion in the pan until soft, about 3 minutes, then pour in the wine. Once it comes to a boil, reduce the wine by half over 3 minutes. Add the tomatoes, thyme, rosemary, and lemon pepper. Add the browned chicken thighs and simmer over medium heat for 40 minutes.
  • Step 3
  • Serve the chicken on a bed of rice, seasoned with butter and tomato sauce drizzled on top. Sprinkle with parsley.

    Sangiovese wine goes well with this dish.
